Hello on this Friday, October 19, 2007. I’m Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update.

Britney Spears has lost visitation rights with her sons. Court papers say the pop star cannot see her kids unless she follows court orders. No other details were given. The decision comes after her ex Kevin Federline and his lawyer called an emergency hearing on Wednesday. Earlier this month, Spears lost custody to Federline temporarily. She was ordered to pass random drug tests, take parenting courses and get counseling if she wanted a chance to get more time with 2 year old Sean Preston and one year old Jayden James.

The Rome Film Festival is in full swing. Celebrities flocked to the Italian city yesterday for the beginning of the international event. Big stars are expected to attend including Halle Berry, Cate Blanchett and Sean Penn. More than 160 films from aroud the world are set to be shown at the festival. Also taking place at the event…actress Sofia Loren will be honored with the Lifetime achievement award.

The FBI is reportedly investigating magician David Copperfield. His warehouse in Las Vegas was apparently raided by agents on Wednesday night. Copperfield keeps many of his possessions there…he performs monthly at the MGM Grand Hotel in Vegas. The FBI took a computer hard drive, large amounts of cash and a digital camera system. Officials wouldn’t reveal much, but did say the investigation is tied to a Seattle based case.

Stars filled the red carpet last night in London to support a good cause. The “Swarovski Fashion Rocks” gala combines fashion with music to raise money for a children’s charity. Singer Alicia Keys was at the event as well as Patti LaBelle and Lily Allen. Fashion Icon Donatella Versace was there with singer Iggy Pop. Actresses Uma Thurman and Heather Graham also joined the star-studded guest list.

Meanwhile, another group of celebrities gathered in Los Angeles to show support for another cause. “Desperate Housewives” stars Eva Longoria and Nicolette Sheridan were among the stars that showed up to support the Padres Contra el Cancer organization. That group aims to help Latino children suffering with cancer. Actress Jessica Alba was at the gala, as well as Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff.

Ok my mom just got my brother and sister taken away by my dad cause she was arreested and when she got out they ordered her to go to some counseling/substance abuse classes to which she did not attend so now the last minute order that came in from the judge says she can have monitered visits 2x per week for 1 hour but my dad said he won't let her see the kids.what can she do?Someone told her to go to superior court and file a civil case family court saying that he won't let her see them but that'll take months.Whats the best thing she can do?

she can hold him in contempt. He is ignoring a court order which is illegal..You can't with hold visitation that is court ordered. Then she needs to get her act together and follow the court orders too and the next time the judge tells her to be there she had better because he can do the same thing to her..

I recently won my child custody case with permission to relocate to another country. However the father with whom i was never married has already filed an appeal. Neither one of us has used a lawyer due to lack of funds. I am trying to understand the procedure especially since there was no court reporter on our case and he is claiming totally new stuff in the appeal that he did not bring up in court. Almost like a new petition. I'm I suppose to reply to it or wait for the court to contact me. He did serve me with a notice to appeal in which he messed up in most cases confusing the terms appellant and appellee in quite a few places such that it is even confusing to me. He does however say he has evidence in the form of e-mails i wrote to other parties but he did not include this in the paperwork he sent me. Shouldn't he give me everything he gives the court? Any advice will be largely appreciated. He is only doing this to delay me from leaving to take up a new job overseas.

An appeal court only uses the record for evidence. His evidence is not litigated on appeal. An appeal court only determines if the lower court has made an error. Sounds like you ex is clueless on what he is doing. Yes, you will respond to his brief. Notice of appeal requires you to do nothing. The appeal court will order the lower court to send up the record once noticed. What you are saying his motive is most likely is correct. Unless he asks for an order from the appeal court to stay the order of lower court, you are free to follow the lower court's order. Have a nice life overseas.
