A Tribute to Those Who Know a World Without Male Supremacy and Any Form of Oppression is Necessary
“Born of a Woman,” Consolidated
“Women’s Herstory Month,” Mumia Abu-Jamal (from http://PrisonRadio.org )

“In the US, a woman is raped every 6 minutes; a woman is battered every 15 seconds. In North Africa, 6,000 women are genitally mutilated each day. This year, more than 15,000 women will be sold into sexual slavery in China. 200 women in Bangladesh will be horribly disfigured when their spurned husbands or suitors burn them with acid. More than 7,000 women in India will be murdered by their families and in-laws in disputes over dowries. Violence against women is rooted in a global culture of discrimination which denies women equal rights with men and which legitimizes the appropriation of women’s bodies for individual gratification or political ends. Every year, violence in the home and the community devastates the lives of millions of women. (Broken Bodies, Shattered Minds: Torture and Ill Treatment of Women, Amnesty International, 2001)

Violence against women feeds off discrimination and serves to reinforce it. When women are abused in custody, when they are raped by armed forces as ‘spoils of war’, or when they are terrorized by violence in the home, unequal power relations between men and women are both manifested and enforced.

Violence against women is compounded by discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnicity, sexual identity, social status, class, and age. Such multiple forms of discrimination further restrict women’s choices, increase their vulnerability to violence and make it even harder for women to obtain justice.”

We have plans to adopt this child, and Child Protective services were on there way to pick the child up, but she was not actually in their custody. will this child receive benefits from foster care until we adopt her?

If she is not a foster child then she will not receive benefits. If you are planning to adopt her anyway, she’ll lose benefits so you might as well just take of her.

in Jacksonville, FL? What was their name and was it overturned when you went to court? Things such as not interviewing references for one side, taking heresay from the other side who had no contact with the child in over 2 years? email if you like.

Sounds like you hit a nerve with the other poster. Yes, I know of a friend who went through a nightmare with a very incompentent evaluator. He also has been recently reprimmended by the Supreme Court. Look up all attorneys to see what their standing is.

Look up case # SC05-2075

The date is January 19, 2006.

This is a major red flag. Only 10% of the attorneys out of 86,000 + have been reprimmended in this state. That's low. So he's bottom of the barrel.

The truth is the truth.

Im in a custody battle with the mother of my child. I dont want her in her current household because her grandfather was abusive mentally to her mother as a child. And also they are manufacturing alcohol in the house. What can I do?

you’d have to fight it with a lawyer and have proof not just things that you don’t like but actual things that are harmful to your child

Would you give 50/50 custody of a newborn to the father? Neither party will pay child support except medical. If newborn is with father, halve the time, he pays halve the expenses.

Yes, If the father was staying in the same town and not across the country I would. It is hard thinking of your child being away from you but you should thank God your child has a father who wants to be there. If the father fails to help then it is always easy to file for support. The system is not set up to help fathers or mothers who don't have custody of their kids and that is plan and simple.

Also, the court will award what ever you agreed upon so dont let no one tell you differently. Second children adjust very well to change. If you guys made it a routine that the child stays with you have the time and half the time with the father then it will work out fine. It is so hard being a single parent. My kids never had a problem adjusting to the new schedule. They develope problems when the parents are arguing and fighting all of the time and not being supportive of each other.

If you both are willing to work in the best interest of your child then everything will be fine. Remeber you did not make this child by yourself it is his child too.
I wish you luck

Are laws on "joint custody" nation wide, or state specific?
Can someone please help me find a list of all the laws/codes pertaining to custody here in Indiana?

bbb– divorce, custody and child support laws are state specific.
i went to yahoo and type in:
indiana child custody laws

got alot of sites…too many for me to list….some are on divorce some on custody and some on support.

take care and good luck :)
