This is the complete reading of the OJ Simpson jury verdict finding him guilty of robbery and kidnapping in a Las Vegas courtroom on late Friday evening, October 3, 2008.

The video goes from the Judge addressing the jury about reaching a verdict to OJ being led away in handcuffs.

I will explain a few things about what is in the video.

1. The video starts by the Judge confirming to the jury that they have reached a verdict. The Judge then reads the verdict forms that have been completed by the jurors.

It is at this time the Judge first becomes aware of the verdicts reached.

2. The Judge then handed the verdict forms to the clerk for a reading of the verdicts into the record and to inform everyone present in court about the jury’s verdict.

3. The clerk starts with the verdict on co-defendant Clarence Stewart.

Note that at this point that while camera is on Stewart, OJ knows he will be found guilty too.

4. The OJ verdict is then read.

5. On request of the lawyers, the Judge then has the jury polled. This is simply asking each juror if the verdict reached is indeed the verdict that the juror intended.

After the jury was polled, the Judge tells the jury they may leave the courtroom.

6. The Judge then hears the typical motions that lawyers file and have heard when a defendant loses a case. The Judge summarily denies the motions [having known about them ahead of time.]

7. It’s then Yale Galanter’s turn [OJ's lawyer.] He makes the same motions and those are summarily denied.

8. Note at the time that the lawyers are making their arguments that in the background one of the deputy sheriffs is holding handcuffs ready to be placed on OJ.

9. The Judge then orders the defendants to be taken into custody immediately.

Child Abduction – Fathers’ Rights

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Child Abduction

Those who are unfamiliar with Family Law in the UK might believe that the term ‘abduction’ would be relatively easy to define. Most would think that if a child is removed without the parent’s permission to another jurisdiction this would constitute ‘abduction’.

‘even Toddlers Need Fathers’

‘Helping fathers sustain a parental relationship with their child or children through the courts’.
Kingsley Miller is the author of ‘even Toddlers Need Fathers’.

Professor Sir Michael Rutter, author of the seminal work ‘Maternal Deprivation Reassessed’, and a foremost authority on children’s welfare, said,

“Very many thanks for sending me a copy of your interesting and informative guide on ‘even Toddlers Need Fathers’. I much appreciate your drawing my attention to it”,
PROFESSOR SIR MICHAEL RUTTER, 13th March 2002

The author was given the unique right by the Court of Appeal in the UK to publish the County Court judgments from the family proceedings in his case because of his, “history of responsible
campaigning and writing on issues relating to family relationships”.
LORD JUSTICE THORPE, Vice President Family Division, 30th July 2004

Taylor loses the custody battle

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Judge Friedman tells Taylor that he was moved by her remarkable story, and he admits that he can only imagine the toll that the mix-up in the lab has taken on her life. He then explains that under normal circumstances with a case like this, the court would want a child of Jack’s age to be cared for by its mother. But this case, he adds, is anything but normal because of the risk presented by Taylor’s recent hallucinations and use of alcohol. Based on that, the judge cannot in good conscience allow her to remain caretaker for this child.

My 21 year old son has a 3 1/2 year old daughter with his girlfriend. They were never married but have been together since she was born. They have recently split up and I’d really like to know what his rights are. Currently things are amicable but unfortunately I don’t know how long that will continue. He has been the sole financial support for his daughter as his girlfriend never worked. He would like to at least have joint custody. I’d also like to know what our rights are as grandparents. We are very close to our granddaughter as she has lived with us most of her life. I don’t want to lose our relationship just because their relationship did not work out. I’d like to be prepared if and when any issues arise with my granddaughter’s mother. Any advice or information would be appreciated. Thanks

Try this site. It takes a little work but you should be able to find what you need without hiring a lawyer. You may also seek a family councilor who for an hour or two of his/her time will give you a better idea of how it usually works as opposed to what the law says.

I am fixing to have my baby and the father is my now ex and has not been around throughout the pregnancy. He is wanting the infant to stay overnight with him even though I am breast feeding and it is not in the best interest of the child. He is very irresponsible, selfish, and does not know how to care for an infant (basically he scares me!). How should I proceed if he does take me to court for visitation rights? Has anyone been thru this before?

In an ideal situation, both parents can agree on custody and visitation. When parents cannot agree, such as in your case, then you will need to go to court. A court will issue a court order defining the custodial/non-custodial parent as well as possession rights for the child. In Texas, the standard is in the "best interest of the child."

More information on the court process can be found at the link below.

I highly recommend you seek the help of an attorney. Yahoo Answers isn't an appropriate place to ask about your real life situation that could potentially affect the well-being of your child.

I'm 6 months pregnant and me and my baby's father can not get along. He lives in CT and i live in NY. Can he get custody of my baby? And what kind? He's not been around, but keeps threatening me with court. What can I do

Yes, he can. The only way he could do it though is to go to court, so I wouldn't call that a threat. It's just what he has to do. The judge will award custody to whomever of the two of you would be the better parent. You can ask the judge for a joint arrangement too.

What can you do? Clean up your act if there is anything a lawyer could seize on to make you look bad. (i.e. drugs!) Take good care of your baby now and after it is born. Be conscientious and show up on time every time for every court date, and be well groomed and respectful. Have a good lawyer. Don't sling mud at your ex. That will maximize your odds of getting custody.
