I am going to court on the 19th I filed for joint custody and is wondering how it will go. People told me that it will be 50 /50 but how does that work. Also how will that affect the child support? This is in the court of NJ

Preparing for an argument for joint custody is no different than that for full custody.

Joint Custody
"My parents divorced when I was 2 years old. Because I was so young, I cannot remember anything of how the divorce actually felt at the time. But 12 years later, I am quite content with my life and my parents. Unlike many divorced couples with children, neither parent has primary custody of me, but rather, I switch between my parents’ houses every other day, spending roughly equal time with my mother and my father."

She’s moving in with her dad for her senior year in high school, I live in New Mexico but her dad lives in Arizona. Ive been looking online for some pre-formatted form, but i cant seem to find any
I was wondering if there was a way that i could find one online?

the forms you need are at your county court house, and that is were you will have to go to get them, you will have to fill out the forms, pay the fee’s and wait for a hearing before a judge in the family court.

My soon to be ex lives in florida and florida court started a time sharing plan. 3 weeks with me and 3 weeks with her father. she was born in NC. What do I need to do BY MYSELF to file something in NC to change jurisdiction an start a case in NC???
I absolutely can not afford an attorney or receive legal aid since in this area they do not touch child custody cases.

If Florida has jurisdiction, that means you moved the child away from there, and her father, within the last six months. It doesn’t matter where she was born. You will need an attorney or move back.

While things are improving, Mothers still get preference in custody cases. If both parents work, and the child is in daycare or school during the day, is there a difference in who is a better parent? Why are so many mothers getting the majority of the custody and fathers get the every other weekend visitation? When will the laws become adjusted so that both parents are treated equally in custody cases?

That’s a great question, I have no idea.

My father got full custody after my parents divorced and had major issues getting time needed from work due to people not being aware of men as primary care givers. I think the whole system regarding divorce and custody has some major issues, but I’m unfamiliar with how to solve them.

What are grounds if any for a change of custody from the mother to the father? I asking those that have been through experience. Obviously abuse or neglect but is there anything else? What about bad living environment or income from mother to support child? Thanks

To say a bad living environment you would have to be able to prove that the environment is putting your child at risk physically or emotionally, that’s a hard sell in most cases. Income isn’t a good reason because unless she is making $2.50 an hour part time, she makes enough. If anything, you might be opening the door for you to pay more in support than you are currently doing. In most cases it is very difficult to take a child from the mother. So unless your ex is truly putting your child at risk, you need to not worry in petty grievances and try to work out some kind of parenting arrangement that is in the best interest of the child.

This is my 97th video I will try and make something special in the new future for my 100th video. Thank you subscribers for all your support , your kind emails are very nice. I try to give as much exposure to as many martial artists around the world. This is what was taught to me by my Sensei . As a child I used to hate forms but only liked sparring but as I got older I wanted to know exactly what all the forms were for and one teacher in particular explained Bunkai to me and showed me the practical application of pre arranged fighting forms and not to dismiss them but to use them to help you train on your own for multiple attackers . Stop looking at them as just pretty movements but also the self defense application of them . However if you do them make them look crisp the way they should be done. I was not too worried abou the crispness of this kata but wanted to show you how to utilize the forms you have been taught. Disclaimer-These videos are for entertainment purposes only . On July 15th there was a study session in Tokyo (in the House of Representatives Building) on the problems surrounding sole custody. Currently, Japan does not recognize joint custody. After divorce the child lives with one parent usually the mother. The other parent is often denied access to the child. The courts and police will not enforce any ruling so they parent with the child can ignore any and all requests if they so desire. This study session was held to raise awareness about the sole custody system. Many judges, especially in smaller cities, are not aware of this problem. One lawyer, one retired judge, and a few left behind parent spoke at this study session. Also one Diet Member (Hiroe Makiyama) spoke in support of joint custody. Ideas were discussed and courses of action were suggested but the real change is going to have to come from the people. Japan is the only G-7 nation that has not signed the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction. They are also the only nation that doesn’t recognize joint custody as the norm.
