My father has legal custody of me until the age of twenty-one. Can I move out at age 18?
So me and my father are having problems. He is too controlling, and I want to move out. He says that the custody papers he has says that he has custody of me until the age of 21. I want to be on my own and move out. Is there anything I can do?
once you turn 18 you can move out..
the papar just states he can claim you until your 221 from your mother

The custody agreement was between him and your mother. It is not binding on you. You can do whatever state law permits and that means you are an adult at 18. But your father will be your father forever, so don’t do something that will spoil your relationship, just because you can.

Yes, you can move out on your 18th birthday if you want, but how about school or trade school, you got to have more than just a high school diploma, if you want to make any kind of decent money, think twice move out when you’re absolutely sure.

You can move out. No police department or judge would actually pursue you because you are of legal age. BUT, be prepared to be completely self-supporting…rent, utilities, groceries, gas, medical/dental expenses, and all the other costs of leaving the "nest." Good luck.

Not true.
In most states (there is 1 that has a higher age of majority), the legal age to move out is 18.
