He can be ordered to pay child support even when he has SOLE custody, as happens in 10% of the cases.

Depends. You may have to pay him. Google the child support calculator in your state and see.

It depends on who has the baby more, if it is 50/50 chances are neither of you will have to pay it, but if one parent has more care time than the other he will.

Just to clarify, there is a difference between joint custody and joint placement. Joint custody is typical and it just states that you need to consult one another before making major decisions, (what school to attend, sporting events to be in, religious things) BUT, joint placement is the split of overnights you each have with the child.

If you have joint placement 50/50, it still comes down to your income. Typically you each are responsible for the expenses of the child while they are in your care. But if there is a SIGNIFICANT difference in the two incomes, then it’s possibly he would still need to pay you child support. Or the same goes for you if you make a significant more. Most state court systems will view it as the child needs to be provided for as if the two parents are together.

It depends on what you mean by JOINT CUSTODY. If you both have the child 50% of the time then in all fairness do you think he should pay you child support.

If you have the child for the majority of the time and dad has them for maybe two days a week then i would say most defiantly yes.

Me and my ex have my child a week each.
He spends one week with me then the next with his father. this seams to work for us.
I don’t get any money from him nor him from me.
i am the higher earner.
