Can anyone give me a link. I need to know in mississippi do they give shared custody or full custody to mother?

If 2 couples have a child that are not married do they give mother full custody or shared custody?

Mississippi

note: I signed the papers.
i signed it 4 years ago. They told me it was just papers saying I’m the father. I was young I should of looked at all those papers.

They usually give joint legal custody, but physical custody to the mother. EVEN IF you signed papers giving her full custody, you can change that once the kid is school aged. Unless you signed adoption papers, you can go to court and have custody revisited.

Southern states are more apt to give full custody to the mother because of much higher rates of drug abuse or abandonment by the father.

It’s never that simple. What did the papers you signed say? Does he want joint custody? Ok, so you’re the father and you believe you signed papers saying that you were. That’s probably what they were. In the future though don’t sign anything without reading it first, and if you don’t understand what it’s saying, don’t sign it.
Do you want joint custody? They never just give mom custody anymore. Is she going to fight you about joint custody?

    You still need more info.
You signed papers 4 years ago confirming you are the father?
Has that been the extent of your involvement? Have you seen the mother/child since? Do you pay support?
