What would be the first few steps needed to take place.
These are completely non-blood related families
You would need the proper paperwork filed. For most people, that means hiring a lawyer. A parent can do two things – they can entrust guardianship with another family or they can allow the other family to adopt the child. Guardianship is reversible, adoption is not. Guardianship can have specific time periods, such as while parents are out of the country.

Going to the court house with your family and having them sign guardianship forms for your kid. Now, both you and the father have to agree to this, and the only way he wouldn’t himself get custody is if he has been found to be unfit and cannot have his child. After this though, the family has the right to child support on your child, which yuo and the father will be required to pay.
